How to get to La Guarimba

La Guarimba Film Festival is a unique experience where you will find an outdoor cinema, workshops for adults and children, beach time, concerts, Italian food, and an international community with directors, illustrators, and cinema lovers.

The best part? It’s free! Yes. Our mission is to bring the cinema back to the people and the people back to the cinema. We understand the empowerment of culture to people and so,  with that in mind, we are always trying to improve the accessibility and that’s the reason why La Guarimba is a free high-quality festival for everybody.

There are several ways to get to Amantea.

BY TRAIN

The Rome-Reggio di Calabria InterCity railway line passes through town, with the Amantea train station by the sea. The line passes by Napoli Centrale, Paola and Lamezia Terme. You can find tickets to Amantea on the Trenitalia website.

The nearest airport is at Lamezia Terme, just a short drive or 20-minute train ride away (take a taxi or bus from the airport to Lamezia Terme Centrale train station).

Option B: Fly to Rome (Fiumicino or Ciampino Airport) and take a train from Rome Termini to Amantea. You can find tickets to Amantea on the Trenitalia website.

Option C: Fly to Naples and take a train from Napoli Centrale to Amantea. You can find tickets to Amantea on the Trenitalia website.

Once in Lamezia Terme Airport, you have 3 options to get to Amantea:

  • taxi (€50): you can call our trusted taxi driver Giampiero Miceli (+39 3475459049). If you don’t book it in advance, it might cost more.
  • bus (under €5): This is the timetable of the busses http://www.autoservizipreite.it/orari/aut_preite_08.pdf, unfortunately, there aren’t many, so make sure you check in advance.
  • train (regional train: €3,40, intercity: €9): You can buy a shuttle bus ticket from the newsagent in the airport and catch that shuttle which will bring you to the train station. From there catch a train to Amantea. The travel is approx. 15-20 minutes. You can find the info on the Trenitalia website.

When you’re inside the town, you don’t need a car or public transportation: everything is very close and you can reach everything by foot.

WHERE TO SLEEP
We have deals with house owners for cheap accommodation and with local hotels.

TIP: Keep in mind that there is a lack of public transportation and the surroundings are not well-connected. So, if you don’t have a car, do not stay in BELMONTE or CAMPORA SAN GIOVANNI. It will be very difficult or impossible to enjoy the festival.
